VDLC Calls for Release of Imprisoned Unionist in Philippines

January 20, 2021

The Vancouver and District Labour Council joins with the International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines in demanding release of imprisoned trade unionists.

The union representatives were arrested on December 10, International Human Rights Day, and remain imprisoned on trumped up charges. The Philippines has a long-standing history of workers rights violations, which has only worsened under the current Duterte regime.

The VDLC’s letter, sent on January 6, can be viewed on the ICHRP website
