Help Us Win on Oct 20

September 25, 2018

On October 20th British Columbians will go to the polls to elect their municipal governments.  Municipal elections are always important.  The outcomes impact schools, roads, libraries, parks, and services that we use every day.

But this election is especially critical.  That’s because it takes place in in the midst of worsening housing, affordability, and overdose crises which demand bold action at the municipal level.  We cannot afford to see our municipal governments shift to the right.

The Vancouver & District Labour Council is hard at work ensuring the election of progressive candidates who will tackle these crises, work with labour, respect collective bargaining and workers rights, and represent our values.  There’s a lot to do, and we need your help.

The VDLC has hired on four full-time election organizers to lead the effort to elect our endorsed candidates.  We have already organized a variety of canvassing activities and attended a number of events and meetings.  In addition to this, we sent a poll card to 100,000 homes in Vancouver and ran a major social media ad campaign.

While all of this has been important and effective work, we know that the best approach is face-to-face contact.  That’s why we are organizing a door-to-door canvassing campaign effective immediately.

We can use your help any day, but our key canvass dates are October 10, October 13, October 17, October 19, and October 20.  Your assistance can help us win this election.

We look forward to working with you to make October 20th a day to celebrate.

In solidarity,
