Condemn the cruel sentences against Iranian workers and journalists

September 10, 2019

On 7th September 2019, sentences were announced for representatives and supporters of the Haft Tapeh sugar cane workers, and editorial staff of Gam Magazine.

The sentences range from six years to eighteen years plus six months. Elected worker representative Esmaeil Bakhshi also faces 74 lashes.

Similar sentences have been issued in recent months to teachers, students, women’s rights activists, May Day marchers, and others. We continue to condemn the inhumane repression being carried about by the government of Iran upon labour and human rights activists. We demand the immediate and unconditional release of all labour and political prisoners.
