Oppose Racism, Facism, and Bigotry in Vancouver

March 7, 2019

On March 15th, the Hellenic Community centre in Vancouver plans to host an event organized by the “UBC Free Speech Committee” and featuring Lauren Southern and Stefan Molyneux.

These individuals are internet personalities and authors who are associated with far-right extremism as well as white supremacist, anti-immigrant, anti-feminist, and Islamophobic ideas, organizations, and activities.

A variety of student, community, and anti-racist organizations and activists have already begun organizing to counter this event of the 15th.  Many are also pressing the Hellenic Community centre to reconsider hosting this event.

If you would like to express your views on this event to the Hellenic Community centre, their contact information is as follows:

If the event should proceed, it will be broadly protested.  The protest will be outside of the event at 4500 Arbutus St., just south of King Edward. As it appears to be a wide array of organizations and individuals who are organizing for this protest in their own ways, the VDLC is not endorsing any specific group or action.  However, we encourage a strong community response in opposition to racism, fascism, and bigotry.
