Repatriate HandyDart!

March 19, 2025

The VDLC has reaffirmed its commitment to seeing HandyDart service in Metro Vancouver fully repatriated (contracted in) to the public sector.

We stand with HandyDart workers and riders, seniors organisations, disability rights groups, unions and labour council’s, and local political leaders, in demanding that the TransLink Board votes to repatriate HandyDart dart at their June meeting.

We also demand that the provincial government keeps its election promise to repatriate HandyDart.

The motion below was adopted at our March regular meeting.

Subject:  Repatriate HandyDart

THE VANCOUVER & DISTRICT LABOUR COUNCIL WILL call upon the TransLink Board of Directors to vote to fully repatriate and contract-in HandyDart service in Metro Vancouver at its June 25th meeting; and

THE VANCOUVER & DISTRICT LABOUR COUNCIL WILL FURTHER call upon Minister of Transportation & Transit, Mike Farnworth, and the provincial government, to keep their 2024 election promise and announce unequivocally, prior to June 25th, that HandyDart service will be repatriated to the public sector.
