					<description><![CDATA[<p>As noted in our March 24th open letter to Premier John Horgan and Mayor Kennedy Stewart, the VDLC recently began convening a Joint Union Committee composed of unions representing Community Health and Community Social Service workers in the Downtown Eastside.&#160; The new JUC has now met several times and continues to advocate for the protections outlined in the letter for DTES workers and residents. We were able to secure a meeting with Mayor Stewart to hear about the efforts that are currently underway, and to express our perspectives and concerns. We will continue this work and ensure that labour&#8217;s voice...</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The new JUC has now met several times and continues to advocate for the protections outlined in the letter for DTES workers and residents. We were able to secure a meeting with Mayor Stewart to hear about the efforts that are currently underway, and to express our perspectives and concerns. We will continue this work and ensure that labour&#8217;s voice is at the table throughout this pandemic and will post additional updates as appropriate. </p>
