VDLC Congratulates Vancouver Progressive Candidates

October 21, 2018

The Vancouver and District Labour Council congratulates Vancouver’s new Mayor, Kennedy Stewart, and all our endorsed candidates on their strong progressive campaigns!

We look forward to working with City Councillors Adriane Carr, Pete Fry, Jean Swanson, and Christine Boyle; School Trustees Janet Fraser, Estrellita Gonzalez, Jennifer Reddy, Barb Parrott, and Allan Wong; and Park Board Commissioners Stuart Mackinnon, Dave Demers, Camil Dumont, Gwen Giesbrecht, and John Irwin, all of whom were endorsed through our vetting process earlier this year.

To those who were not elected, thank you for all of your hard work and your willingness to stand with working families. We wish you all the best in your next endeavour.

We also congratulate and look forward to working with newly elected City Councillor Michael Wiebe and School Board Trustee Lois Chan-Pedley. Although we had not endorsed these two candidates during the election, we recognize and respect the hard work and progressive campaigns which have led to their success, and we look forward to working with them in their new roles.

We would like to thank all the members of our #LabourVotes2018 volunteer team, and our election organizers, for their tremendous effort and their dedication to the people of Vancouver. The VDLC is proud of the people-powered grassroots campaign that we mobilized to support our endorsed candidates, and of our efforts to encourage progressive cooperation. We will continue to work for our common cause of a inclusive, sustainable, and affordable city for everyone.
